Location, Location, Location

The hut planning is busier than ever right now, and it's all about LOCATION. There is so many considerations to take into account, and we really want to nail it. Away from busy sledding areas, easily accessed by ski/snowboard, but far from summer FSR roads, and surrounded by epic skiing and mountaineering terrain.

If you anyone has suggestions for an excellent zone in the Coast Mountains for our hut project, don't be shy. Let us know.

Discussion about the Battleship Lake location (accessed from Lillooet Lake Rd) and Watersprite Lake (accessed from the Mamquam FSR in Squamish) are in the works. There's also plenty of great ideas in and around Whistler, many of which involve BC Parks. We're in the process of checking in with Parks, and we'll see how it goes.

We're keen to find a location that will be well-complemented by a hut, and that Kees & Claire would be proud of.

The hunt continues...

This area looks really promising to me. There are a number of small lakes with good tree skiing around them, and access to the north side of Mt Callaghan for fair weather skiing with long glacier runs. It's within the new upper Soo Conservancy and access would be through Callaghan Lake provincial park, so BC parks involvement would be required.

Thanks for the suggestion Scott. We have our eye on something right now that we're hope to learn a bit more about before sharing, but all feedback and ideas are definitely encouraged. BC Parks involvement seems inevitable in all discussed locations so far, and we've had positive reception so far.

un-named lake as far as I know. Down side would be the constant heli traffic from CRH and the somewhat more advanced steep skin into the area crossing a southern exposure avalanche path. Upsides Tons of terrain TL and ALP. Gnar terrain on most N faces surrounding the area like into N. Joffre Creek and Mt. Saxifrage N face. Tons of acreage 2hours off the highway. Here are some photos from an overnighter in 2001

P.S Nice shot of the Joffre Group Jamie. Twin One lake at the base of Howard might not be a bad idea either.
